Digilent Atlys and Xilinx University Program Support from Simulink

You can use Simulink, HDL Coder, and HDL Verifier with Digilent Atlys to teach hardware design and verification for signal processing and embedded systems using an integrated, turnkey FPGA design workflow. Digilent Atlys is a low-cost, ready-to-use digital circuit development platform based on the Spartan-6 FPGA board provided by Xilinx University Program (XUP). This kit includes onboard DDR2 memory, a gigabit Ethernet connection, and integrated audio and HDMI video ports.

With Digilent Atlys, students can explore concepts in signal processing, communications, and embedded systems as they develop real-world audio and video applications. Students can gain insight into system design using these key features:

  • Algorithm development in MATLAB and Simulink to simulate and visualize system behavior
  • Analysis of the relationship between MATLAB functions, the Simulink model, and generated HDL code
  • HDL code execution in real time on the Digilent Atlys development board
  • Design optimization through resource sharing, retiming, and streaming
  • Implementation of Mealy and Moore finite-state machines in Stateflow
