Rapid Prototyping and Hardware-in-the-Loop Testing

Once a control design has been created and validated in simulation, you can use Simulink Real-Time to quickly verify it in real time with the actual plant hardware using rapid prototyping (RP) techniques or on the target processor with simulated plant hardware using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) techniques. Simulink Real-Time enables you to execute Simulink and Stateflow models in real time on a PC-based target computer using a library of I/O card drivers, a real-time kernel, and a host-target interface for real-time monitoring, parameter tuning, and data logging.
