Sun™ Java™ Classes

The MATLAB^® software provides an interface to the Sun™ Java™ programming language that enables you to create objects from Java classes and call Java methods on these objects. A Java class is a MATLAB data type. Native and third-party classes are already available through the MATLAB interface. You can also create your own Java class definitions and bring them into MATLAB.

The MATLAB Java interface enables you to

• Access Java API (application programming interface) class packages that support essential activities such as I/O and networking

• Access third-party Java classes

• Easily construct Java objects in MATLAB

• Call Java object methods, using either Java or MATLAB syntax

• Pass data between MATLAB variables and Java objects
