Before using Embedded MATLAB MEX, you must set up your C compiler by running mex -setup, as described in the documentation for mex in the MATLAB Function Reference. You must run this command even if you use the default C compiler that comes with MATLAB for Windows® platforms. You can also use mex to choose and configure a different C compiler, as described in What You Need to Build MEX-Files in the MATLAB External Interfaces documentation.
You can use the following compilers to generate MEX functions with Embedded MATLAB MEX:
Lcc-win32 C 2.4.1
Microsoft® Visual C++® 2008 Express
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005
Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003
Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
Open WATCOM C++ 1.7
