Modeling Biological Systems
Computational biology strives to study biological systems in silico, thereby reducing the amount of time spent on wet-bench experiments. MathWorks products provide a flexible design environment for these activities, such as modeling pharmacodynamics through a physiological system or simulating and analyzing a low-level molecular model of a gene regulation network.
- Systems biology – Design, model, analyze, and visualize biochemical pathways and artificial gene networks with SimBiology.
- Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics – Study the time course of Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME) of drugs in the body, or study the biochemical and physiologic effects of drugs and their mechanisms of action.
- Physiological modeling – Model and simulate physiological phenomena such as angiogenesis or circulation using MATLAB and Simulink.
