Customer Speaker
Diglio Simoni
Diglio Simoni is a senior HPC scientist and the leader of the HPC group in the Research Computing Division at RTI International. He currently serves as senior computational scientist in the Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study (MIDAS) for the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), where he provides computational support for scientific needs in HPC, including the design and development of advanced visualization tools and the parallelization of large agent-based simulation codes for a network of seven research groups in the U.S. and the U.K.
After his initial work on the Hypercube project (SAR Image Processing) at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Virtual Wind Tunnel project (Virtual Reality) at NASA Ames Research Center, and a subsequent decade of work in industrial and research settings, he returned to academia to obtain his Ph.D. in computer and information science and engineering with a focus on computational neuroscience at Syracuse University, which is expected to be conferred in 2010.
Additional Speakers
Rick Rosson
Rick is an applications engineer at MathWorks focusing on signal processing and communications systems. Prior to joining MathWorks in 2007, he worked for more than ten years in operations management and manufacturing process improvement, primarily in the automobile and electronics industries. Rick holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Boston University and a Master of Science in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management. His current professional interests include adaptive filtering algorithms, statistical signal processing, embedded code generation, discrete-event simulation, and semiconductor fabrication operations.
Eric Johnson
Eric is an application engineer at MathWorks. Prior to joining MathWorks in April 2008, Eric worked with General Motors to develop a high-performance manufacturing simulation. He holds an M.S.E. and B.S.E. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His primary research involved modeling of abrasive manufacturing processes, and he moonlighted on several medical research collaborations.
Arkadiy Turevskiy
Arkadiy works in the Technical Marketing group at MathWorks supporting Simulink and control design products. Prior to joining MathWorks in 2005, he worked at Pratt & Whitney, where he developed control systems for large aircraft engines. Arkadiy has an M.S. from MIT in aeronautics and astronautics.
