Richard Rovner

Richard Rovner, MathWorks
Richard is vice president of marketing for MathWorks, managing a global organization of 200 people responsible for all aspects of marketing: strategic planning, product and technology strategy, market analysis, partner management, web marketing, corporate communications, and marketing programs. Prior to joining MathWorks in this role in 2001, Rich held senior marketing and sales positions at SAS and roles as a research scientist and analyst spanning image processing, computer science, and statistical methods in industry and academia. He has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.S. in Computer Science from George Washington University. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation.

Vivek Tyagi

Vivek Tyagi, Freescale Semiconductor India
Vivek joined Motorola Semiconductor India in 1997. In his current role, Vivek leads the India sales team efforts to drive business for Freescale products in the embedded markets with clear focus on the networking, automotive, industrial, and consumer markets. He leads a team of technical marketing and application engineers.

Prior to joining Freescale, he worked with Philips Semiconductors. Vivek holds a bachelor's degree in electronics and communication engineering from Mysore University and a PGCSM from the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode.

J S Mangat

J S Mangat, Electronics & Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), Defence Research & Development Organisation
J S Mangat has over 10 years of experience in the field of radar signal processing. He is currently working as Scientist ‘D’ in the Electronics & Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), Defence Research & Development Organisation, Bangalore, India. His significant contributions are the development of direct digital synthesizers for digital IF processors and the development of tracking algorithms for long-range tracking radars and the Wide-Bandwidth LFM Generator Module. He has presented papers in national and international conferences and journals. He has also authored one patent on a direct digital synthesizer and developed India’s first 500 MHz bandwidth LFM generation module for SAR application. His current research interest includes wide-bandwidth waveform generation for high-resolution radars and development and optimization of algorithms and FPGA-based hardware implementation. He obtained his B.E. from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, M.P., and M. Tech from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, U.P.

Dr. Swarup Kumar Mohalik

Dr. Swarup Kumar Mohalik, General Motors Technical Center India Pvt. Ltd.
Swarup is a staff researcher in India Science Lab, General Motors Technical Center India, Bangalore. He specializes in the areas of formal verification and discrete control synthesis and has worked in the domains of communication protocols, semantic networks, and automotive systems. Prior to joining General Motors in 2006, he worked in the R&D division of Sasken Communication Technologies Limited, Bangalore, as a research scientist and as a technical lead in HP Labs, India. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Institute of Mathematical Science, Chennai, India, and a postdoctoral fellowship from LABRI, University of Bordeaux, France.

Dr. Arun Chakrapani Rao

Dr. Arun Chakrapani Rao, General Motors Technical Center India Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Arun Chakrapani Rao is a tech lead in the HVAC Controls Software Group in the ECS - Engineering division of General Motors Technical Centre, India. He spent a couple of years in the Rigorous Control Software Verification R&D Group working on verification techniques and tools relating to model-based development. Prior to this, he worked as a senior research fellow/project engineer at the International Automotive Research Centre (IARC), based at the University of Warwick, U.K., and at OFFIS R&D Institute, Germany, in various areas relating to model-based verification techniques and prototype tool development, in numerous projects with various automotive companies. He has a Ph.D. in computing sciences and engineering from De Montfort University, U.K., and B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur and Chennai, respectively.

Sant Ranjan

Sant Ranjan, Whirlpool
Sant Ranjan is general manager, Advanced Development, at Whirlpool, Pune. He is currently managing advanced development in refrigeration and is involved in various innovation technologies related to refrigeration and dryers. He previously worked with Subros. He has a B.Tech. degree in mechanical engineering from Harcourt Butler Technology Institute (HBTI) Kanpur, India.

 

Shrikant Sharma, LRDE, Bangalore
Shrikant Sharma has been working in LRDE as Scientist ‘B’ since 2009. His research interests include ultrawideband signal processing and electromagnetics. He has published four research papers:

  • Mathematical Analysis of Interpolation Step of Omega – K Algorithm
  • Hyperbola Summation Based Synthetic Aperture Radar Technique for Ground Penetrating Radar Image Focusing
  • Parameter Selection Criteria for Stepped Frequency GPR System Design
  • FFT Implementation of Kirchhoff’s Migration for Signal Processing of GPR Data

He obtained his B.E. in electronics and communication engineering from Government Engineering College, Jabalpur, India.

Dhirendra Pratap Singh

Dhirendra Pratap Singh, Whirlpool
Dhirendra Pratap Singh is product development manager, Advanced Development, at Whirlpool, Pune. He is currently working on creating system-level models by capturing the detailed physics and chemistry involved in refrigeration, washing, and fabric dryers using mathematics. He previously worked with Crompton Greaves on power transformers and SIPAL Italy on aerospace projects from Boeing. He has B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in mechanical engineering and specialization in CAD and automation from IIT Bombay.

Chris Aden

Chris Aden, MathWorks
Chris is the product manager for RF and analog solutions at MathWorks. Prior to joining MathWorks, Chris worked in product management at Research In Motion, in the research and development division of TriQuint Semiconductor developing RF and millimeter wave IC technologies, and at Skyworks Solutions, where he focused on improving multichip module design processes. He has a B.S.E.E. from the University of Florida, an M.S.E.E. from Georgia Tech, and an M.S. in management and engineering from MIT.

Tom Erkkinen

Tom Erkkinen, MathWorks
Tom is the embedded application manager at MathWorks. He is leading a corporate initiative to foster industry adoption of embedded code generation technologies. Before joining MathWorks, Tom worked at Lockheed Martin developing a variety of control algorithms and real-time software, including space shuttle flight software at NASA JSC. He has spent over a decade helping companies deploy Model-Based Design with embedded code generation and is currently focusing on industry standards and certification support. Tom holds a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering from Boston University and an M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Santa Clara University.

Tabrez Khan

Tabrez Khan, MathWorks
Tabrez is an application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in signal processing and communications. Tabrez has over eight years of experience in the role and has worked closely with most of the aerospace and defence, education, communications, and electronics and semiconductor accounts in India, helping them use MathWorks tools effectively in their design flows. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and vendor trade shows such as Mentor Graphics EDA Tech Forum, Avnet X-Fest, and Altera SOPC World. Tabrez holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering from Kuvempu University and an M.Tech. degree in digital electronics and communication from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka.

Puneet Kumar

Puneet Kumar, MathWorks
Puneet is an application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in signal processing and communications. He has over 10 years of experience in the role. Prior to joining MathWorks, Puneet worked for Cadence, CoWare, and Synopsys as a field AE, handling products in the signal processing and virtual prototyping domains. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from University of Pune and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Florida, Tampa.

Prashant Mathapati

Prashant Mathapati, MathWorks
Prashant is an application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in signal processing and embedded code analysis and verification. He has over five years of experience in the role. Prior to joining MathWorks, Prashant worked for Trident Infosol and Programming Research as a senior field AE handling products in the signal processing and verification tools domains. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka.

Steve Miller

Steve Miller, MathWorks
Steve is responsible for the technical marketing of the physical modelling tools at MathWorks. Steve joined MathWorks as an application engineer in 2005 and moved to the Design Automation Marketing group in 2006. Prior to that, Steve worked at Delphi Automotive in Braking Control Systems and for MSC.Software Adams consulting in various capacities at Ford, GM, Hyundai, BMW, and Audi. Steve has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.

Pradeep Nanjappa

Pradeep Nanjappa, MathWorks
As a senior technical evangelist, Pradeep helps customers identify areas to apply and derive maximum benefit from MathWorks products. Pradeep has over 15 years of experience in system design for signal processing, algorithm design for industrial operations research (OR), and aerospace independent verification and validation (IV&V). Prior to joining MathWorks India, Pradeep worked as Module Head, Mathematical Modeling and Simulation, in a CMMI Level 5 company, where he was involved in aerospace IV&V on DO-178B. Pradeep also held the position of manager, Research & Development and Education Services, where he was involved in algorithm development of supply chain products, and prior to that, in the digital signal processing areas of image, video, and speech codecs. An expert trainer, Pradeep has over five years of training and content development experience on various applications of the MATLAB and Simulink product families. Pradeep has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering with a specialisation in signal processing from Oregon Health and Science University.

Chirag Patel

Chirag Patel, MathWorks
Chirag is an application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in technical computing. He closely interacts with customers in various industries and domains to help them use MathWorks products for test and measurement and control systems design. Chirag brings eight years of combined experience from industry, research, and academia to MathWorks. Prior to joining MathWorks, Chirag worked as a system simulation engineer for Cessna Aircraft Company and as a control systems engineer for Raytheon Aircraft Company; in these roles he developed simulations for electrohydraulic systems, built hardware-in-the-loop test rigs for antiskid brake systems, and designed integrated environmental control systems for business jets. Chirag holds a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, and a master’s degree in control systems from Wichita State University, Kansas.

Vijayalayan R

Vijayalayan R, MathWorks
Vijayalayan is a senior application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in control design and automation. He closely interacts with customers in different domains to help them use MathWorks products for physical modelling, control design, and real-time simulation. Prior to joining MathWorks, Vijayalayan was a team lead in the Embedded Systems Group of Cranes Software International Limited, where he gained hands-on experience in setting up rapid control prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments for automotive customers. He has also worked as a Scientist B at the Gas Turbine Research Establishment. Vijayalayan has presented and published research papers on modelling and simulation in national and international conferences. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and a master’s degree in control guidance and instrumentation from IIT Madras.

Kishore Rao

Kishore Rao, MathWorks
Kishore is the managing director of MathWorks India. With nearly 20 years of software industry experience, Kishore has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in software sales across industry sectors in India, with a focus on design and development applications. Prior to joining MathWorks, Kishore was vice president, strategic outsourcing, at IBM India and held the position of Managing Director for India at Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). Kishore holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, and a postgraduate degree in business management from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Prashant Rao

Prashant Rao, MathWorks
Prashant manages the Application Engineering and Training team at MathWorks India. Prashant has been with MathWorks for over six years and was based in Germany before moving to India. Prashant has over 11 years of industry experience in hardware and software implementation, system-level modelling, design, and simulation. His interest lies in bringing the tasks of abstract system-level design and actual hardware and software implementation of embedded systems closer together by using Model-Based Design. On the system level, his areas of specialisation are signal processing, video processing, and communication system design. On the implementation side, he focuses on hardware and software implementation and verification in HDL and on DSPs. Prashant holds a master’s equivalent (Dipl.-Ing.) degree in microelectronics from the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, Germany.

Shobhit Shanker

Shobhit Shanker, MathWorks
Shobhit is an application engineer with MathWorks India. He has 8 years of industry experience specialising in Model-Based Design, automatic embedded production code generation, and software verification and validation methodologies. Prior to joining MathWorks, Shobhit worked with Honeywell Technologies and Delphi Automotive Systems. Shobhit has published papers and presented on in-vehicle networks and intelligent transportation systems at IEEE; SAE World Congress 2004; National Defense Association, Michigan; and other forums. Shobhit was also awarded a patent in 2009 by the U.S. Patent Office for his work on the Integrated Model-Based Design Framework. Shobhit holds a master’s degree in computer engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.

Sundar Umamaheswaran

Sundar Umamaheswaran, MathWorks
Sundar is an application engineer at MathWorks India specialising in technical computing and numerical analysis using various mathematical methods including statistics, optimisation, curve-fitting, and surface-fitting applications. He focuses on algorithm development, application deployment, and supporting MathWorks customers in applying these algorithms for developing mathematical models across domains. Before joining MathWorks, he spent five years at Infosys, where he developed mathematical algorithms for various industrial applications, including aerospace structural applications, as well as system integration test cases for a global automotive consortium. He also led a team of engineers in developing interactive software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments and mathematically modelling the dynamic behaviour of electrical systems for a world leader in gas turbine power plants. Sundar holds a degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University.
