This position is based in Santa Clara, California. This position could require travel up to 30% of time, generally throughout the US. 

Responsibilities

As an Application Engineer, you will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Development to help customers across a range of industries see how MathWorks products and services can address their needs. More specifically, you will:

Provide technical pre-sales support:

  • Work with prospective customers to understand their workflow and uncover their challenges.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and demonstrations in customer meetings, seminars, and other public events.
  • Conduct extended technical evaluations to promote large-scale adoption of MathWorks solutions and ensure our customers’ success.
  • Establish rapport and credibility with our customers from engineers to executives to build champions for our solutions.

Collaborate with Sales:

  • Assist the salesperson in understanding customer requirements and developing strategies for driving adoption of MathWorks solutions.

Collaborate with Development and Marketing:

  • Collect customers' feedback and share with Development to further improve products.
  • Uncover insights from customer engagements to help Marketing identify industry trends and new application areas.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with MATLAB
  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience with (and enthusiasm for!) MATLAB and Simulink is essential; experience with a broad set of MathWorks products is a plus
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both group and individual settings
  • Excellent presentation skills (or a strong motivation to learn them)
  • Highly motivated to work directly with customers to help them understand how MathWorks products are used to solve their engineering and business problems
  • Desire to learn new application areas as needed

Pluses:

  • Experience with Wireless Communications
  • Experience with FPGAs, ASICs, or SoCs

Salary range of $135,500 to $210,000 (inclusive of target commission for staff in eligible roles). In addition, MathWorks offers benefits and a quarterly bonus program. Individual compensation is determined by a candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
