Job Summary

High Level Description
This position will be part of a European IT Team supporting day-to-day requirements of the users focused on France (Paris and Grenoble), as well as supporting a number of other European sites. This position will also be involved in supporting longer-term projects across the region.


Responsibilities

(1) Support Local and regional IT Infrastructure, Desktops and users.
(2) Regional and Worldwide IT projects
The Technical Environment
• The desktop computing environment consists of PC's running Windows XP, Linux, as well as Macintosh’s.
• The server environment consists of HP servers running Windows 2003 and Linux.
• Wide area networking and Local area networking environment is all based around Cisco
• The support includes, but is not limited to, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades and installation server hardware and software.
Key Personal & Technical Knowledge
The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced team environment:
• French and English language both written and verbal including the ability to work one to one and in big groups on complex technical issues.
• Experience of working with, leading and coaching / training other technical staff.
• Working closely with Business areas and be the liaison for the IT team (relationship building)
• Experience working for an international business over a wide geography.
• Ability to work as part of a small country focused team as well as being a member of the larger European / worldwide team.
• Experience of working at all levels (from basic desktop support / setup up to trouble shooting complex company wide issues)
• Excellent troubleshooting / problem solving skills.
• Some experience of System Administration of Windows 2003, Linux and Sun server infrastructure.
• Some experience of LAN, W-LAN and WAN Administration in a Cisco environment.
• Working within a software development organizations



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
• French and English language both written and verbal
• 5+ years of IT Desktop support for an international business.
• 2+ years of team leading over multiple sites.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to Windows, Unix and Networking.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and French.
• Performs with strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills without outside direction.
• Customer focused with a dedication to customer satisfaction
• Strong initiative, self-motivation, ability to complete tasks on time
• Excellent judgment, decision making, and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain calm demeanor under pressure.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
• Possesses self-initiative to proactively identify and pursue process improvements
