Job Summary

We are looking for engineers to join our UK Technical Support team.

The Technical Support position is an exciting role that allows you to identify and develop your technical, professional, and personal skills for a successful technical career at The MathWorks. You will receive a combination of practical experience and formal training in a work environment that fosters and rewards co-operation, teamwork, learning, and fun. As a Technical Support Engineer you will provide support to our customers and this will allow you to gain:

- Product knowledge and an understanding of customer needs
- Skills in troubleshooting, software testing and debugging
- Exposure to a variety of industries and real-world applications
- A platform to further develop your communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Opportunity to work and associate with a first class team developing world class products

In addition to working with external customers you will be expected to collaborate with the following business areas;

Application Engineering - who work closely with our Sales Department to provide pre-sales technical assistance by creating and delivering demonstrations and presentations that show customers how MathWorks tools can solve their engineering problems

Product Training - who deliver Product Training courses to external customers throughout the UK and Europe

Consulting - who deliver consulting services to maximize the benefits that customers derive from using our tools

Development - who develop software tools for the world's leading scientific, engineering, and financial technical specialists

Quality Engineering - who test our products by building test suites using our unique automated testing environment

Documentation - who design and develop user manuals, installation guides, and other product documentation



Responsibilities

You wil provide technical support to The MathWorks customer for our MATLAB and Simulink product lines. The broad responsibilities are outlined below; 

- You will assist customers to use The MathWorks products effectively and successfully.

- You will act as customer champion to provide feedback about major issues that could have an impact on customers.

- You will pro-actively share knowledge obtained during problem solving by documenting the information.

- You will adhere to and assist with maintenance of standard processes related to Technical Support.

-You will promote wherever possible related business activities during the course of their work.



Qualifications

This role is extremely challenging and involves continuous learning and development and therefore you must be extremely motivated and love to learn.

Required:

Honours degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a related discipline

Familiarity with mathematics and a good understanding of one of the following topics is desirable: control systems or signal processing and communications

Excellent language skills specifically in English and Spanish. Other European languages such as French or Italian are a plus

Knowledge of at least one operating system and at least one programming language

Strong personal commitment to learning and to personal development

Good working knowledge of MATLAB is essential

Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

Desirable

Knowledge of other MathWorks products is a strong plus

Skills in Model based design and/or production code generation.
