Job Summary
As a member of the Development Training team, this individual will partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders at all levels of the organization to produce learning and staff development programs that support the professional growth of Development staff.
This individual will work with subject matter experts to identify needs for, develop and deliver training on topics relating to quality and process improvement at The MathWorks. Examples include but are not limited to problem solving methods including but not limited to DMAIC and other Six Sigma concepts, root cause analysis, process documentation, key concepts in The MathWorks Development process framework, and metrics.
In addition to course development and delivery work for both face-to-face and e-learning offerings, this team member will be responsible for partnering with managers and staff to help ensure that training leads to desired results back on the job.
The ideal candidate will combine a passion for process and quality improvement concepts, methods and best practices with excellence in instructional design, communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
Responsibilities
Specific activities include working closely with internal subject matter experts to:
- Develop fun, creative, cutting-edge and effective ways to support the Development organization’s continuous growth and learning.
- Identify unmet learner needs, and initiate and manage projects to meet those needs
- Conduct hands-on training development work; interview subject matter experts, document learner requirements, select appropriate media/training formats and develop materials.
- On occasion, present training materials and facilitate learning events such as seminars, workshops, discussion groups
- Support SME’s as they develop and deliver offerings.
- Identify and implement improvements to training offerings based on stakeholder and participant feedback as well as standard program evaluation methods.
- Work with managers and stakeholders to develop and implement curriculums for specific areas, including tracking and reporting on key performance goals and metrics.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in an Instructional Design or other training-related field, or a degree related to process improvement methods.
- 3-5 years experience in developing training courses and learning programs, including experience delivering both formal and informal training.
- 3-5 years of experience working with subject matter experts on training topics.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including an engaging presentation style.
- Significant experience in a process improvement is strongly desirable.
- Experience in a software development environment is desirable.
