Job Summary
The growth of model based design and automatic code generation has created demand for support of complex production deployments of Simulink, Stateflow, the Real Time Workshop Embedded Coder and other tools.
This position requires a unique combination of leadership and management skills involving application engineering, software development, industry domain expertise, multi-national company engagement and Germany engineering practices. The candidate will manage a team of pilot engineers who support major corporate customers in the application of MathWorks products for Model Based Design. The support will involve recommending technical approaches using the existing products, providing customized solutions for advanced applications and collecting requirements. There will be special focus on simulation, automatic code generation and V&V. The successful candidate will help secure strategic accounts and ensure the successful execution of the pilot projects.
The candidate will leverage skills in international engineering engagement, Model Based Design, MATLAB, Simulink, C and embedded systems to provide advanced model based design and code generation solutions. Projects will vary from short duration coaching to extended advanced deployments. The focus is on long term solid technical success driving an expansion of product usage.
This position will be part of a large international pilot support team with operations in Asia, United States and Europe. The international team operates within a common charter and process.
The position will manage a technical staff in Munich.
This role is a full-time leadership management position based in Munich Germany
Responsibilities
• Coordinate the day to day efforts of the pilot engineering team in Germany
• Perform necessary administrative tasks
• Recruit future pilot engineers
• Ensure pilot team works within existing pilot engineering process and procedures
• Help refine pilot engineering process and procedures
• Secure new pilot projects per an established process and tight collaboration with sales teams
• Ensure there is a strong engineering focus to drive success of model based design and code generation projects in Germany
• Generate excitement, confidence and passion for usage of Model-Based Design and Real Time Workshop Embedded Coder in complex production deployments
• Work directly with select customers to establish project road maps for Model-Based Design and Real Time Workshop Embedded Coder deployments
• Establish global deployment plans that bridge support between Germany and other countries for Multi-National companies doing model based design in both countries
• Work with development engineers to implement required features or determine how to use existing features most effectively
• Establish technical procedures for solving complex deployment problems
• Extensive travel for customer presentation and planning discussions is required in Germany and other European countries
• Work closely with sales teams and other customer facing staff focused on a fast paced and continually evolving strategy for successful adoption of tools for deployments
Qualifications
• MS or Ph.D in Engineering or Computer Science
• Prior sales or marketing interaction
• Experience with using Simulink and Stateflow for controls, signal processing or software development
• Experience doing or coordinating engineering work in Germany
• Demonstrated ability to define the scope of projects and to estimate budgets
• Project management or direct experience with embedded controls or signal processing software development and related technologies including one or more of the following:
- Embedded Systems
- Signal processing
- VHDL and FPGA Design
- Advanced simulation methods
- Workflow, Use Cases and Project Requirements collection
• Strong desire and ability to work with customers and turn their needs into actionable plans
• Effective verbal and written communications skills that are effective in both Germany and United States
• Flexibility to work on multiple projects with ability to multi-task based upon frequently changing business opportunities and external demands
