Job Summary
The MathWorks is changing the way embedded systems are developed. MATLAB and Simulink are widely used by high tech companies across all industries for modeling, simulation, testing, verification and validation, and automatic production code generation.
We are looking for a senior software engineer with experience in large scale software projects who enjoys engaging with customers in a consultative manner. She/he understands the workflow and challenges of our customers, is capable of inspiring them by proposing solutions that address their needs.
The every day work of an Application Engineer at The MathWorks job is characterized by direct interaction with high tech companies in a variety of industries. Thorough technical know-how, and strong presentation and people skills are key ingredients for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Providing technical pre-sales support and guidance to The MathWorks Benelux Sales Organization.
- Engaging prospective customers to understand their workflow. The AE will leverage his/her product knowledge and industry experience to demonstrate or explain how software from The MathWorks can solve their problems and improve their engineering processes.
- Using MATLAB, Simulink, and other related tools from The MathWorks to specify and generate embedded real-time software.
- Preparing and delivering presentations to customers and prospects during customer meetings and marketing seminars. These sessions include, but are not limited to, live demonstrations.
- Supervising product evaluations. Prospective customers may require guidance on how to evaluate our products. It is the AE's responsibility to plan and supervise the evaluation project.
- Providing feedback of findings from customer interaction to the company’s development and marketing initiatives.
- Accountability of project quality, timing and effort including the submission of trip or engagement reports as well as weekly activity reports.
Qualifications
- University degree in engineering with a strong informatics component, (Master degree or equivalent)
- Experience with large scale embedded software projects, including architecture
- Experience with software engineering tools, methods, and environments
- Fluent in English and Dutch
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Proficiency in the delivery of presentations.
Plusses
- Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Real-Time Workshop
- Experience with requirements capture and configuration management
- Experience with project management and related tools
- Familiarity with standards like CMM, DO-178B, MISRA, IEC 61508, IEC 61131
- Experience programming C++, UML, Assembly
- Experience programming device drivers
- Experience with multi-processor / distributed applications
Travel is generally throughout the Benelux specific to various seminars, customer visits, etc. Though far less frequent, some international travel is expected (less 25%).
