Job Summary
Do you work in the Industrial Automation and Machinery (IA&M) industry? Are you excited about how electronics and/or mechatronic systems are accelerating the pace of innovation in these industries? Do you want to drive the adoption of Model-Based Design to address the challenges facing these industries? If you answered yes to these questions, then read on. The immersion of control systems and computing power into physical systems in all walks of life is driving increased complexity in system design, which is difficult for traditional systems design and development processes to address. This increase in system complexity, coupled with the need to bring innovative, high-quality products to market faster is driving the use of models during the design and realization process. In this role you will lead the Industry Marketing effort for increased adoption of Model-Based Design in Industrial Automation and Machinery (IA&M) Industry in Europe. You will work to help the European Sales organization achieve its revenue goals while helping Development build and plan its products for this industry. As part of this role, you will participate in efforts to identify new opportunities and segments for The MathWorks in the IA&M Industry.Responsibilities
Act as the industry growth focal point for sales and applications engineering for the IA&M industry in Europe.
- Understand the customers’ need and articulate a vision for the applicability of The MathWorks products in the customer workflow
- Lead and coordinate the efforts of a cross-functional team comprised of sales and applications engineers in Europe focused on the IA&M industry
- Train account managers and application engineers on delivering key marketing messages
- Strategize with account managers to increase account penetration
- Work with North American counterpart to build best practices for effectively increasing sales worldwide
Drive awareness of The MathWorks within the IA&M industry across Europe
- Collaborate with the Marketing Programs group to develop effective promotion strategies
- Identify the proper conferences, trade shows, and speaking opportunities to promote messaging
- Contribute articles for publication in journals in Europe
- Deliver papers and presentations at conferences and trade shows
- Speak with the appropriate analysts, editors and journalists to promote The MathWorks
- Develop broad-based and event-specific promotional materials
Develop business strategy for IA&M industry in Europe
- Identify new growth areas within the IA&M industry
- Analyze revenues in the IA&M industry, identify weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions
- Develop and execute the annual IA&M industry business plan and report progress on it to the internal strategic “board of advisors”
- Participate in sales account planning
- Identify and work with critical partners to help provide a complete solution
Qualifications
- MS or better in relevant engineering discipline from a leading university (EE, ME, etc.)
- Knowledge of MathWorks products (MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow) or other multi-domain simulation software
- Strong knowledge of and experience (7+ years) in the automation or industrial machinery industries with respect to mechatronics and embedded systems development
- Familiarity and experience with the use of automation and industrial equipment in discrete or process manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting sales and engaging with customers
- The motivation to work in a customer and sales facing role
Additional experiences important to the position:
- MBA
- Fluency in English and either German or French
- Product marketing experience
- Prior employment with a leading corporation in automation or machinery
- Experience with a global software company
- Experience in forecasting and economic analysis
This position will be based in Munich, Germany. The candidate should expect to travel about 40% of the time. Travel will be mostly within Europe, but at least two trips to the United States will be required.
