Job Summary

Discover opportunities to improve our efficiency and/or effectiveness as a Software Process Improvement Leader working with our Software Development organization. You will be responsible for analyzing our current software development processes, and will need to generate excitement for better ways of producing complex, multilayered, software products including MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.

You’ll be a catalyst for change, and will lead the execution of critical projects that improve our development processes to create tangible business improvements. The Software Process Improvement Leader manages cross-functional teams of independent colleagues who are not in direct reporting relationships, so leading by influence will need to be one of your strong skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, plan, and implement process improvement opportunities consistent with business needs and expectations.
  • Document improved processes.
  • Demonstrate improvement through solid metrics and reporting.
  • Develop and implement identified elements of process infrastructure.
  • Build strong working relationships with cross functional management and team members.
  • Identify and document core software development processes.
  • Identify and improve software development process metrics and reporting.
  • Coach, mentor, and train teams on appropriate quality tools and methodology usage.
  • Apply best practices for introducing, driving, and sustaining major quality and change initiatives.


Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent, and 5+ years of professional experience in a software development organization (and 1+ years of software process improvement experience)
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Transactional Lean, Software Engineering Institute (SEI), CMM/CMMI, Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG), software or equivalent process improvement experience
  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to drive process improvement
  • Proven ability to work at all levels of the organization to develop buy-in, establish a vision to build consensus, and drive/affect change by influence
  • Experience working in an Agile/iterative software development environment
  • Excellent analytical skills, with demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills
