Job Summary

Description: Manage a staff of 5 storage and virtualization administrators in implementing, maintaining and growing an enterprise storage and virtualization environment that provides 7/24 service, and performance and scalability as required by our users and business applications. The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced team environment balancing both hands on and management priorities.

Hands on capabilities include:

*Storage technologies (NetApp, EMC, etc.)
*Performance tuning
*Automation
*Centralized backup systems
*Virtualization infrastructure (VMWare)


Management capabilities include:

*Managing individual and team performance
*Managing infrastructure upgrade and expansion projects
*Writing and delivering proposals
*Overseeing the day-to-day storage management activities
*Crisis management and communication
*New technology and vendor assessment

Responsibilities

Responsibility and Support for our growing SAN and NAS environments – Our SAN/NAS environments consist of over 160 TB of storage. The Enterprise Storage Manager will be responsible for providing 7/24 support and will need to proactively work with several business areas to manage and monitor growth so that SLAs for storage and performance requirements are satisfied. The Manager needs to be skilled at developing proposals to expand our storage infrastructure to meet business requirements. Ongoing responsibilities include:

*Device and space allocations as needed
*New system designs, planning and layout
*Device and array performance tuning, monitoring and reporting
*Growth control by monitoring allocated vs. used space
*Automated notifications of failures and potential issues
*Maintain performance by monitoring data growth and load shifts
*Track trends and address or escalate as required
*Periodic Hardware/Software health checks/patching

Responsibility and Support for our Backup Infrastructure – The Enterprise Storage Manager will be responsible for making sure that our backups are working properly and will need to scale up our backup infrastructure to satisfy our SLAs and to support our growth in SAN and NAS technology.

Responsibility and Support for our Virtualization Environment – We currently have over 150 VMs and we are looking at other new technologies to virtualize our development labs and adopt dynamic provisioning. The Enterprise Storage Manager will be responsible for supporting our 7/24 VM environment and will work with other IT groups to look for opportunities to increase our VM infrastructure in order to save on power, space, and cooling requirements.

Qualifications

• BS /MS in computer science or related field.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of management experience
• Experience with NAS and SAN technologies, in particular with EMC and Network Appliance
• Experience with Virtualization technology, in particular with VMware
• Experience in implementing and managing monitoring tools and resources
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Unix/Linux/Windows administration experience
• Experience implementing, maintaining, and managing a virtualization environment
• Strong Networking skills
• Strong trouble shooting skills
