Job Summary
The MathWorks is the leading developer and supplier of software for technical computing and Model-Based Design. The MathWorks core software platforms, MATLAB and Simulink, form the foundation of an integrated model-based design environment.
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the technical aspects of The MathWorks sales process, directed primarily at customers whose primary business involves the development of products to be used in Communications, Electronics and Semiconductor (CES) applications.
The Application Engineer's primary role is to present relevant capabilities of MathWorks products to customers while directing them towards using these products to accelerate their pace of development.
The Application Engineer (AE) will spend most of their time focused on applying Simulink and MATLAB capabilities to the development of CES applications (Signal & Image Processing, Real-Time Systems, Data Acquisition, Embedded Programming, etc.) in various industries (Communications, Electronics, Aerospace, etc.) and will be responsible for demonstrating their knowledge during sales meetings, conference calls, public seminars, and in the development of complex product demonstrations.
This position is primarily a customer facing role where the AE needs to excel not just with his technical know-how but also has to be good at presenting and people skills.
Responsibilities
• The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the technical aspects of the sales and applications support process directed mainly at customers whose primary business involves the development of Signal Processing and Communication systems.• Assist sales team in establishing sales strategies to manage key technical buyers and their requirements/objections.
• Working as a team, understand and synthesize customer requirements, and then explain the features and capabilities of our products specific to their needs.
• Preparing and delivering proof-of-concept presentations to customers and prospects using a combination of live The MathWorks product demonstrations and PowerPoint slide shows to address specific customer interest areas.
• This position also requires that the AE is able to work with existing "power users" to answer their questions and assist them in the most efficient and proper use of MathWorks products once deployed.
• Using a combination of product knowledge, domain expertise and interpersonal skills, establish credibility by adding value through repeated interactions with the customer.
• Support customer product evaluations by assisting them in the development and application of MATLAB/Simulink programs that solve specific problems.
• Share customer experiences with other Application Engineers and members of the Marketing, and Development groups to ensure that future products are being delivered that truly meet and exceed expectations.
Qualifications
• An honors degree in Engineering with some specialisation in Signal Processing and Communication.• Requirements:
o 2+ years experience if PhD, or 5+ years experience if Bachelors degree, from within a Signal Processing and Communications environment.
o 2+ years experience using MATLAB/Simulink or other comparable tools
o Industry Experience with demonstrable expertise in real-world Communications related engineering problems.
o Good knowledge of C programming
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Desirable:
o PhD in a related engineering discipline
o Knowledge of large scale modeling and processes to include requirements management, configuration control, applying modeling standards, documentation, and legacy code integration
• Most travel will be within India. Occasional travel to The MathWorks headquarters in the US should be expected. Some international travel may also be expected.
