Job Summary

The MathWorks is looking for a strong technical marketing professional to manage our rapidly growing MATLAB math and analysis toolbox business. Candidate will manage a team of product managers responsible for 1) working with development teams to establish and guide product strategy and direction, and 2) developing product marketing plans and materials, for our line of Math and Data Analysis toolboxes. The relevant toolboxes span a range of areas in modeling and data analysis, including:
• Statistics, data analysis, and data fitting
• Symbolic computation
• Optimization and related design support tools

Responsibilities

The Manager of Math and Data Analysis Toolbox Product Management will be responsible for overseeing and coaching product managers. The product managers, including the team manager in the role of advisor and individual contributor, will:
• Working on product planning with development teams, including developing short-term release plans as well as multi-year product roadmaps
• Collecting, synthesizing, and prioritizing customer feedback
• Tracking and reporting on the math and data analysis markets and alternative offerings
• Learning about and understanding new technologies in the space
• Developing and executing marketing plans and product launches, including development of print and web collateral, such as data sheets and customer-facing presentations
• Developing demos for product and web
• Training sales and technical staff on products and providing sales support
Candidate will work closely with multiple teams in Marketing, Development, Sales, and senior management, reporting to the Director of MATLAB Applications Marketing.

Qualifications

- Relevant engineering (e.g., EE or ME), math, science, or computer science degree
- 10+ years industry experience in engineering, product management, or technical sales support involving software or hardware products for engineering and science, or related disciplines.
- Experience in a product management or customer-focused sales or support role
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage small teams of highly motivated professionals, and work collaboratively
- Experience managing small teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Project management skills
- Experience using the MATLAB product in an academic or commercial setting.
- Experience using other programming and data analysis and modeling tools.
