Job Summary

Do you have a strong technical background in Software Design, Control Theory, Signal Processing or Embedded Systems?  Are you motivated by an environment that supports continuous learning?  We are looking to hire bright, self-driven engineers with advanced degrees to join our Engineering Development Group at MathWorks. Our focus is on teamwork, collaboration and continuous learning in an open, fun and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities

The Application Support Engineer role is a technical track for career development.  Application support and inter-departmental collaborative project work are the central responsibilities.  The aim of the Engineering Development Group is to provide opportunities to learn new skills, and improve on existing ones, while gaining practical experience.  These skills will open up future career advancement opportunities at MathWorks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a master's degree, or a PhD degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications Required / Preferred

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, Maths or a technically related field from a top tier university. 
  • Very strong mathematical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB and in C/C++ or Java.
  • Skills in model based design and/or production code generation
  • Strong commitment to learning, personal development and achieving results

 

Having two or more of the skills listed below is a plus:

  • Control Theory - Knowledge of  modelling & simulation and control systems
  • Embedded Systems - Experience in real time embedded software development in C including multi-threaded programming
  • Signal Processing and/or knowledge of communication protocols e.g. CAN, TCP/IP, RS232, USB and protocol design
  • Experience with Object Oriented languages and principles
  • Experience with multiple Operating Systems
  • Fluency (oral and written) in at least one other European language.
  • Self-motivated, independent worker, with a history of successfully driving tasks to completion
