The primary responsibility of this Application Engineering (AE) position is to manage the technical aspects of selling MATLAB / Simulink and tools enabling Model-Based Design of embedded control systems. You will be responsible for discussing these products with customers in sales meetings, conference calls, and public seminars.
*This position requires “US Citizenship” due to the nature of the customers served.
1. Provide technical pre-sales support and guidance to MathWorks North American Sales organization. The Application Engineer assists the salesperson first, in understanding and synthesizing customer requirements, and then in explaining the features and capabilities of our products relative to these requirements.
2. Prepare and deliver proof-of-concept presentations to customers and prospects during customer meetings and seminars. These presentations use a combination of live MATLAB/Simulink product demonstrations and PowerPoint slide shows to address specific customer interest areas.
3. Support customer product evaluations. This requires assisting customers in the development and application of MATLAB/Simulink programs that solve specific problems. To facilitate this process, knowledge and skills in the following areas are often necessary: mechanics, electronics, controls, simulations, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, embedded systems development and C programming, MATLAB programming, high level architecture, etc.
4. Share customer experiences with other Application Engineers and members of the Marketing, and Development groups to ensure that future products are being delivered that truly meet and exceed expectations.
Travel is generally throughout North America specific to various seminars, customer visits, etc. Though far less frequent, some international travel is expected. The candidate should expect to travel about 20-30% of the time with trips generally no longer than four days.
