Job Summary
At MathWorks, the quality of our products is a top company priority. As a MATLAB and Web Help Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing test tools, testing infrastructure, and automated and manual test suites for improving the quality of MATLAB Help infrastructure both in the product and on the Web. As an individual contributor in the Quality Engineering department, you will engage early in the software development process, influencing requirements specifications, attending usability sessions, and discussing software design and testability with software engineers, to ensure high quality of our software and products.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop test plans/procedures based upon functional and design specifications
- Participate in functional specification, test specification, documentation, and code reviews
- Create and maintain automated and manual test suites
- Participate actively in functional, system, and regression testing activities
- Analyze reported bugs and work with software engineers and managers to resolve bugs
- Participate in and initiate Root Cause Analysis to drive continuous process improvement
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a master's degree, or a PhD degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience
- Automated GUI and Web Application Testing experience
- Effective analytical and problem isolation skills
- Ability to triage issues and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Plusses:
- Experience testing web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery , XML/XSL/XSLT, JSON, AJAX, SOAP, JDBC , Ruby
- Programming experience in MATLAB and/or Java
