Java Quality Engineer - Web Applications
Job Summary
MathWorks is looking for a talented Web Application Quality Engineer to work with our Cross-site team. The APIs and frameworks developed by this team are integral to the majority of MathWorks’ web applications on mathworks.com. Our Web Form Processor creates leads for our sales teams enabling new revenue for the company. MathWorks Account is the key for customers to install MathWorks products and to access important information on our website, including: License Center, Trendy, Cody, MATLAB Answers, File Exchange, and many more.
Responsibilities
As a Web Application Quality Engineer, you will:
- Participate in functional specification, test specification, documentation, and code reviews
- Design and develop test cases based upon functional and design specifications
- Evaluate new automation tools, create new test harnesses and testing processes
- Create, maintain, and execute automated and manual test suites
- Participate actively in functional, system, and regression testing activities
- Analyze and report bugs, and work with software engineers to resolve them
- Participate in and initiate Root Cause Analysis to drive continuous process improvement
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a master's degree, or a PhD degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience with testing web applications (Java or Ruby preferred)
- Automated GUI testing experience
- Proficiency in SQL and database concepts
- Effective analytical and problem isolation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Plusses:
- Knowledge of unit test patterns
- Java or Ruby programming experience
- Automated Web GUI testing experience
- Experience with load, performance, and profiling tools
- Experience with security and accessibility compliance testing
- Experience with CRM systems (Siebel)
- Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, XP)
- 3+ years of commercial Software Quality Engineering experience
- Proficiency in industry standard Quality Engineering methodologies
