Macintosh Developer – Xcode / C++
Job Summary
Are you a Software Engineer who is dedicated to platform user experience and develops software that “just works”? We are in search of a talented and energetic software engineer to work on MathWorks products for Apple platforms. A qualified candidate must have a passion to learn how to design, develop and ship complex desktop and mobile software applications.
As a member of the Platform Evolution team you’ll strive to ensure that MathWorks products take full advantage of the latest capabilities offered by Apple's Mac OS X. You will evangelize the need for our products to leverage these capabilities, work with product groups to determine how best to utilize those capabilities and implement foundation libraries to support those groups. This requires an in-depth knowledge of Mac OS X, an ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries, and an ability to develop bulletproof foundation code.
Responsibilities
- Identify ways to improve the quality of our Macintosh offerings in the areas of integration with the desktop, startup performance, signal handling, threads, OS support, as well as others
- Improve the quality of existing API's
- Improve MATLAB's user experience on Mac OS X
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Platform Foundation Libraries
- Share your Macintosh expertise with other teams
Qualifications Required / Preferred
- M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering + 1-3 years commercial software industry experience
- Excellent knowledge of Mac OS X and its inner workings
- Command of object-oriented design principles and must be fluent with coding in C++
- Solid hands on experience working with Xcode and various other development and debugging tools
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Xcode command line (clang, lldb) development experience a strong plus
- Familiarity with AppleScript, Perl, and/or Unix shell scripting is a strong plus
- Development for iOS platform a plus
- Familiarity with Intel assembly code a plus
