Marketing Communications Specialist

Job Summary

The Education Marketing Communications Specialist will manage, implement and evaluate a range of projects that support strategic programs to foster increased awareness, adoption and usage of our tools by the academic community. This position requires an experienced marketing communications professional who can successfully manage a diverse set of projects in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Program Development & Process Improvement:

  • Support program development for the Academic Support Program (funding of research, curriculum development and academic community events) and global Book Program.
  • Propose and implement approved process improvement projects.
  • Manage inbound communication from authors and publishers in our Book Program.
  • Work with Book Program leader to drive further process improvements by moving more of our transactional communications to automated communications.
  • Support the quarterly/annual forecast & budget process.
  • Manage and track payments.
  • Provide detail necessary for quarterly reconciliation and reforecast activities.

 

Conference and Event Marketing Support:

  • Manage marketing activities related to academic society membership, conferences and events.
  • Successfully plan and manage the logistics for event presentations and on-site curriculum meetings; messaging for event promotions and promotions on society web pages.
  • Act as a liaison with the worldwide marketing programs team on conference execution & logistics.
  • Manage advertising placement schedule related to society publications.
  • Develop project plans for academic conferences and tradeshows in conjunction with technical marketing and development colleagues.
  • Work with the Education Marketing Director to further develop processes to support participation in academic conferences by senior Development team members.
  • Manage the Education Marketing team's annual planning process/schedule related to conferences and tradeshows.

 

Email Marketing:

  • Collaborate with the global Education team, Database Marketing and Marketing Operations to manage automated email communications to academic prospects, customers and book authors.
  • Work with Education Marketing team and Worldwide Education Sales Managers to identify ways to optimize our automated email program in the academic market.
  • Produce reports and analysis of automated email programs to ensure alignment with established benchmarks and success metrics.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience, or master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in/with Project Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Marketing Communications, preferably with an international focus.
  • Strong process orientation, exceptional organizational skills, ability to excel in a highly collaborative workplace.
  • Experience marketing/promoting technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of the university market and selling to a technical audience highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
