Job Summary

This Quality Engineer is responsible for developing automated test suites and conducting hands-on testing of PDE Toolbox.  This toolbox provides algorithms and a graphical user interface for defining and solving partial differential equations in 2D space and time.  In addition, the Quality Engineer will serve as an advocate for software quality and will assist in the development of testing strategies for new and legacy features. As a member of the PDE Toolbox development team, the quality engineer will participate in projects from their early design stages and play a critical role in driving them to final product release.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing software requirements and design documents and providing testing-related feedback
  • Reviewing source code modifications
  • Modifying our code base to improve its testability
  • Developing test tools and enhancing the existing test infrastructure
  • Writing test procedures and automated tests using MATLAB for features including meshing, PDE definition, solution, visualization, and the GUI
  • Executing interactive testing plans on UNIX, MAC, and PC platforms
  • Reporting detected bugs using our bug tracking system
  • Working closely with the Math Toolbox QE, Engineering, Usability, and Documentation teams

Qualifications Required / Preferred

  • BS in Applied Math or Engineering with a focus on solving PDEs and 3 years experience or MS with equivalent experience
  • Programming experience in MATLAB is required
  • Experience with finite element software

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Java, C/C++, software development, or quality engineering is a plus
