Job Summary
The MathWorks is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to work on an awesome team charged with evolving the MathWorks Web API Platform. You will participate in a highly cross-organizational team to create, design and enhance the MathWorks product Web API. Successful candidates will work on complex, meaningful software challenges that make a difference. Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the evolving development of MathWorks Web APIs platform, including designing, implementing and consulting on integrating authentication and identity systems, addressing versioning and evolution, and client SDKs
- Lead collaboration efforts across different business groups in our organization
- Construct software to run on and across architectural layers for sharing between platforms
- Create design specifications, participate in design discussions and code reviews
- Work with stakeholders to refine and negotiate product requirement specifications, functional specifications, and have a voice in directly contributing to product vision and direction
- Craft designs to then develop, debug, test, and support integrating MathWorks' products with various clients with an emphasis on scalability and performance
- Collaborate with documentation, support, QE and others
Qualifications Required / Preferred
- BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Must have 7+ years commercial software engineering experience
- Demonstrable experience designing, implementing, enhancing and supporting APIs.
- Strong demonstrable skills in software architecture, object oriented and messaging design
- Experience with run-time composable services and distributed systems required
- Experience with two or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, C#, C/C++
- Experience working in a commercial software product company
- Strong understanding of project cycles, software development environments, and source control techniques
- Strong self-motivation; strong written and oral communication skills
- Must enjoy dark roast coffee
Nice to Have:
- Experience in SaaS environment
- Experience in functional languages
- Experience with AMQP, SOAP/REST, JSON, ZeroMQ or similar
- Experience with OpenID, OAuth
- Experience with Ruby, Scala and/or Groovy
- Previous Agile experience
