MATLAB File System UI Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking a software engineer to collaborate on the next-generation MATLAB file system UI on the MATLAB Desktop development team.  Our team is one of the fastest growing teams at MathWorks and our products are used by hundreds of thousands of engineers worldwide. You will be working with a talented development team to design and implement new features. You will have the opportunity to work with Java desktop applications as well as JavaScript-based web applications.

You must have strong requirements gathering, design, coding and debugging skill, with a passion for developing high-quality and well-architected software. Although previous web development experience is not required, you must be interested in expanding your skills to include web development.

Responsibilities

• Play a major role advancing the user experience of our products by designing and implementing next-generation MATLAB file-system management UIs.
• Work with internal and external customers in defining requirements, workflows, priorities, and features.
• Collaborate with other development teams and creatively invent new solutions.
• Design and implement high-quality software systems.

Qualifications Required / Preferred

• BS with 3+ years of experience, or MS/Ph.D. with 1+ years of experience in computer science, engineering, math, or related field
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals, software design, and user interface design skills
• Experience with various common programming languages, such as C++, Java, JavaScript, and/or MATLAB
• Experience designing, building, and/or maintaining software pertaining to file-system management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
