Principal MATLAB Product Manager

If you answered yes to the above questions, this position could be a great opportunity for you. We are looking for a new member of the MATLAB Product Management Team. Our team works closely with MATLAB development to understand key requirements and define product features for MATLAB, The MathWorks flagship product. We outline the short- and long-term roadmaps for the MATLAB product as a whole and for each of its key feature areas. Successful MATLAB Product Managers thrive on the challenge of synthesizing diverse (and often conflicting) requirements coming from 1,000,000 of the world's leading technical people. These technical people work at the most innovative technology companies, government research labs, financial institutions, and at more than 3,500 universities.
Fulfilling the MATLAB Product Management role encompasses multiple tasks, including:
- Working on product planning with development and marketing teams, including developing short-term release plans as well as multi-year product roadmaps
- Collecting, synthesizing and prioritizing customer feedback, using a combination of live customer feedback sessions and additional feedback mechanisms
- Assessing market trends to generate product requirements
- Tracking and reporting on the technical computing market and alternative offerings
- Providing support to internal marketing and sales groups to educate them and enable them to incorporate the relevant MATLAB messages into their materials
- Presenting to management review teams to establish support and get approval on product plans
Qualifications Required / Preferred
- Relevant technical degree (engineering, science, or computer science). MS, PhD, MBA a plus
- Extensive experience using MATLAB in an academic or commercial setting. Experience with other programming tools and data analysis packages is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-leading and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate effectively with others to reach the “best” solution to a problem
- Ideal candidate will have 4+ years industry experience in engineering, marketing, or technical sales support involving software for engineering and science
