Job Summary

The MathWorks is looking for a design-oriented Software Engineer with expertise in building modern JavaScript UIs and widgets. Your passion for usable and attractive web UI’s should drive innovation and production quality to new levels. Successful candidates will join a small engineering team that shares a passion for getting things done and delivering well crafted, high quality code.


  • Play a key role in designing, architecting, and developing JavaScript UI’s
  • Collaborate in a fast paced Agile environment with a highly cross-functional team
  • Design and implement multi-device modern JavaScript/HTML5/CSS applications
  • Develop and negotiate requirements, write design specifications, and actively participate in code reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript
  • A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Commercial experience with JavaScript, CSS and HTML5
  • Web, UX or graphic design experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with TDD or simply a focus on delivering a high quality product
  • Strong communication skills, strong self-motivation, open to exploring new tech

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with MATLAB
