Job Summary

Bring your Software Engineering expertise to the MathWorks Physical Modeling team.  Our fast growing team creates products that are used by thousands of engineers worldwide.  We seek a numerical software development candidate with expertise in numerical software and applied mathematics to work on the core technology for Simscape, our flagship physical modeling product. The ideal candidate thrives on solving demanding numerical software problems, values thoughtful design, and finds reward in delivering powerful high quality products to customers. Responsibilities

  • Work independently and with the team to research and design new simulation features, and new methods for numerical model analysis. These will allow customers to more easily model complex physical systems and simulate them quickly and reliably.
  • Work on the end-to-end process of software development including: research, feature design, architecture, and implementation.
  • Interact with customers, application engineers, and marketing to gather requirements.

Qualifications Required / Preferred

  • M.S. or a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, or engineering with a strong simulation focus
  • Demonstrated numerical software development skills
  • Solid knowledge of numerical algorithms, specifically dynamic system simulation, hybrid system simulation, and linear algebra.
  • Solid background in applied mathematics
  • Strong programming skills using C, C++, or MATLAB.
  • Have written or contributed significantly to a numerical simulation tool.
  • Have worked with electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical simulation tools a plus
  • Have combined numerical and symbolic techniques a plus
  • Experience with relevant simulation problems a plus
  • Differential Algebraic Equations (DAEs).
  • Discrete events in continuous systems.
  • Real-time simulation of dynamic systems.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
