Job Summary

The Simulink Certification and Standards Quality Engineer is responsible for developing test suites and conducting hands-on testing of the MathWorks model simulation and code generation product set.  The candidate ensures the highest quality in qualification and certification kits provided by the MathWorks as products.  They are DO Qualification Kit (http://www.mathworks.com/products/do-178/) and IEC Certification Kit (http://www.mathworks.com/products/iec-61508/).  As a member of the Development team, the candidate will participate in the project from its early design stages and play a critical role in driving it to final product release.

Responsibilities

  • Writing test suites using MATLAB to test the functionality of the Code Generation product tool set.
  • Developing new test tools to improve product testing.
  • Executing the interactive testing plans on UNIX and PC platforms.
  • Reporting bugs detected in MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder and other Toolboxes using an in-house bug tracking system.
  • As an individual contributor in the QE department, the candidate will work closely with the Simulink and Embedded Coder Development, QE, and Documentation teams and will work occasionally with Technical Support.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a master's degree, or a PhD degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming experience in MATLAB and C/C++.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience with industry safety standards such as DO-178 and IEC 61508.
  • Experience with Simulink.
  • Proficiency with PC and UNIX environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on a small team.
  • Flexibility to take on varied tasks.
  • Attention to detail is an essential characteristic.

Pluses:

  • Industry experience in Aerospace, Automotive, DSP or similar domains.
  • Programming experience in a scripting language such as Perl or Python.
  • Hands on experience with HTML, XML, Javascript and GUI testing.
  • Experience with embedded systems, embedded code, code generation, and/or compilers.
  • Knowledge of industry software standards, and methods of Software Development and Quality Engineering.
