Job Summary
This position will be part of an Internal Web Administration workgroup and will be an administrator for 12 WebLogic and Glassfish servers, including dev, test, and production clusters. This position will also be directly involved in supporting the developers. The candidate will need to be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment. Experience with Linux/UNIX operating systems is required. The candidate should be proficient in the following technologies:
· Glassfish & WebLogic Server Administration
· Linux/UNIX system and virtualization based technologies.
· Apache webserver configuration and setup
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Production and development support of Glassfish and Weblogic servers on Linux. Support systems serving Applications to international and domestic offices.
- Making decisions on problem resolutions in critical downtime situations when escalation is impractical.
- Leverage scripting (BASH, Perl, Ruby) to build required automation and tools as needed.
- Rotating on call support of production infrastructure and applications. Business hours support for development systems.
- Create knowledge sharing presentations and documentation to help developers and operations teams understand and leverage the systems capabilities.
- Learn on the job and explore new technologies with little supervision.
- Help developers leverage infrastructure and application platform features and functionality. Assisting developers in debugging application.
- Using monitoring tools to find problems spots in production and development and escalating issues to development for resolution.
Qualifications Required / Preferred
- BS /MS in computer science or related field.
- 1-2 years experience working in an IT organization
- Working knowledge of both Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems
- Application clustering / load balancing technologies
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Java Application Server administration and tuning experience (e.g. Glassfish, WebLogic, Tomcat, Websphere)
Nice to have:
- Experience with monitoring systems (Tivoli, Wiley, BMC…)
- Perl or shell scripting experience. Java development experience is a strong plus
- Familiarity with hardware load balancers (F5) strong plus
- Experience with VMware (a strong plus)
- Understanding of protocols/technologies like HTTP, SSL, LDAP, JDBC, Servlet/JSP, SQL, HTML, XML
- Understanding of Web services (SOA)
