Summary

Team Profile
This development team is working on designing and implementing a multi-tenant MATLAB in a cloud computing infrastructure. Members work with Quality Engineering, Product Marketing, Usability and other product development teams.

Position Profile
This position provides an opportunity for software engineering students who are currently pursuing an advanced degree to get hands on experience working with cutting edge technologies, agile software development processes and cloud computing technical operations.

Typical Responsibilities
• Designing, developing, debugging, testing and supporting Java web applications and services.
• Creating design specifications and test case documents.
• Participating in design discussions and code reviews.
• Working with product management teams to refine product requirement specifications, functional specifications, directly contributing to product vision and direction.
• Diagnosing problems found by other developers, QA, support, customers or others.
• Providing timely bug fixes as required.
• Taking responsibility for maintenance and further development of code developed by others.
• Collaborating with documentation, support, QE and others.

As a co-op software engineer you will be called upon to support a
variety of software engineering activities in a fast paced engineering environment. In this role you may be assigned to a variety of engineering tasks including software design and implementation, shell programming, database design and management, and more. Candidates should be able to speak, write, and listen well. Candidates should have initiative, be motivated, adaptable to change, industrious, honest, and be able to juggle multiple tasks.

Requirements
• Candidates must be pursuing a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related.
• Extraordinary technical aptitude
• Proven experience completing projects on time and to specification with no critical defects
• Previous work or internship experience in Software Engineering
• 1-3 years experience years Java experience using web technologies including servlet / JSP development, JDBC, JSTL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML/XSL/XSLT, JSON, AJAX, SOAP
• Experience developing JUnit tests
• Knowledge of Software Development Methodologies
• Demonstrable knowledge of OOAD
• Linux and Windows platform proficiency
• Knowledge of distributed systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• English: Fluent
