Matrix Indexing in MATLAB
by Steve Eddins and Loren Shure
Indexing into a matrix is a means of selecting a subset of elements from the matrix. MATLAB has several indexing styles that are not only powerful and flexible, but also readable and expressive. Indexing is a key to MATLAB's effectiveness at capturing matrix-oriented ideas in understandable computer programs.

MATLAB Programming Contest
Enter the fourth MATLAB Programming contest and try your programming skills with MATLAB users all over the world. The challenge this time is to write an algorithm to solve a variation of the classic Mastermind TM puzzle. Each entry does its best to determine unknown sequences of colored pegs. Show off your MATLAB skills, learn some new programming tricks, or just watch the action unfold online. This is programming as a spectator sport.
The contest runs from September 17 - 21 and kicks off MATLAB Central which provides file exchange and newsgroup access for the MATLAB & Simulink user community.

How do I choose computer hardware which optimizes MATLAB's performance?
This technical solution addresses amount of RAM and type of processor as well as other components the user might modify to optimize MATLAB's performance.
How can I place the \, _, or ^ characters in a text command?
MATLAB 5 and 6 use TeX characters for formatting text objects. This solution presents options to bypass the interpreter and have the characters appear as typed.
