Two New Product Releases for Students
New from The MathWorks, the MATLAB Student Version with Simulink will be available on August 3, 1999. This product, based on Release 11, is a new option for students that provides MATLAB 5.3, Simulink 3.0, and the Symbolic Math Toolbox at a student price. The MATLAB Student Version will have no matrix size limitations. In addition, for the first time, students will be able to purchase toolboxes at our Web store at specially discounted student prices.
The MATLAB Student Version will be available in the U.S. and Canada only. It can be purchased either at the MathWorks Web Store or at campus bookstores. To qualify to purchase, students must be enrolled at a degree-granting institution and have a valid student ID.
The second product, which is available from Prentice Hall, is the Student Edition of MATLAB. This product is also based on MATLAB 5.3, and it includes the Symbolic Math Toolbox, the Signal Processing Toolbox, and the Control System Toolbox. The Student Edition of MATLAB 5.3 can handle matrix sizes up to 16,384 elements (128-by-128 square matrices or images). This product will be available within the U.S. and Canada through September 1999. It will be available outside the U.S. and Canada for the foreseeable future.
The MathWorks and Prentice Hall have enjoyed a successful partnership over the past five years. This new chapter in our relationship builds on that strong foundation and enables us to move forward in providing students with a new alternative, the MATLAB Student Version with Simulink.

This service entitles you to receive the initial update plus any subsequent updates that are released during your 12-month subscription term.
