SPOXWorks connects MathWorks DSP Workshop and DSP hardware

Provides a portable real-time target environment for DSP rapid prototyping

SPOXWorks, a powerful new code generation software tool from Spectron Microsystems, provides a complete portable real-time target environment for MathWorks DSP Workshop. With SPOXWorks, algorithm designers can access the target DSP instantly to create, execute, and evaluate DSP applications. This greatly reduces time spent coding, testing and debugging software.

Using SPOXWorks you can test, fine tune, and evaluate DSP algorithms such as this ADPCM speech coder.

DSP Prototyping Software Solution

The SPOXWorks software integrates MathWorks DSP Workshop with the industry standard SPOX DSP Real-Time system software and target DSP programming tools.

Serving as a bridge, SPOXWorks links MathWorks DSP Workshop to a growing family of DSP hardware platforms. By providing this bridge, DSP algorithm and system designers can assess the performance and device-dependent characteristics of various DSP platforms early in the concept phase of product development. This enables developers to realize their design goals sooner and gets their products to market faster.

Real-Time Code Generation

The SPOXWorks product is an add-on to Real-Time Workshop that provides a real-time environment for running DSP algoriths designed in Simulink. Using SPOXWorks with Real-Time Workshop, developers can quickly and easily produce real-time applications that run on floating-point DSPs.

The integration of SPOX, Spectron's DSP real-time system software, with Real-Time Workshop, lets designers take advantage of SPOX's extensive real-time multitasking DSP system services. As a result, designers can focus on testing real-time algorithms instead of interrupt handling, memory management, and device I/O. SPOXWorks also works with The MathWorks Real-Time Workshop to manage the runtime process so the user, with a single push of the button, can have the code downloaded onto the DSP platform and begin execution.

Rather than recoding the parameters and rebuilding applications, parameters can be adjusted on the target DSP while the applications are running. This feature provides immediate audible feedback for speech and audio applications. Data logging capability automates the loading of results into MATLAB for further analysis.

Real-Time Workshop, with the addition of SPOXWorks target support, automatically generates code that can run on a diverse set of DSP platforms using Spectron's SPOX DSP Real-Time system software.

Supports Key DSP Chips

SPOXWorks currently works on floating-point C3x DSP chips from Texas Instruments and is supported on third-party PC add-in boards from LSI, Spectrum Signal Processing, DSP Research, and CAC. Support for new processors and boards is scheduled.
