New Simulink interfaces to ADAMS software

Mechanical Dynamics, Inc., whose ADAMS software is the world's most widely-used mechanical system simulation tool, now offers two new products to help Simulink users integrate control system modeling with mechanical system simulation.

ADAMS/Plant helps control-system developers eliminate the need to write complex equations of motion for mechanical plants. The software enables users to graphically model mechanical systems—containing a variety of constraints and force types, as well as parts of arbitrary shape—then directly incorporate their Simulink-developed control system models within these mechanical system designs. By using the ADAMS/Plant S-function, users can then simulate their system's full-motion behavior from within the Simulink environment.

ADAMS/Controls is designed for existing ADAMS users who need to integrate Simulink-developed control system models within their mechanical system simulations. The combination of ADAMS, Simulink, and the Adams/Controls interface gives users the tools required to simulate highly complex mechanical systems in motion—including systems containing flexible components.

Multiflash: Multiphase equilibrium package for oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical industries

Multiflash, an established phase and chemical equilibrium package that is now available in a MATLAB compatible version, calculates thermodynamic and transport properties for multicomponent, multiphase streams. These include hydrates for oil and gas production and for rigorous modeling of physical properties in Simulink process dynamic simulations. Multiflash has a standard database of 121 fluid and 140 solid components. Optional databases include DIPPR (AIChE) with 1450 fluid and solid components. Platform: Windows. Supports: MATLAB 4.2, Simulink 1.3.

ACUSYS provides simulation, analysis of pressure pulsation in complex piping and plants
ACUSYS, developed using MATLAB and Simulink, simulates the stationary and transient response of the fluid medium inside a piping network, induced by pressure or flow pulsations applied to discrete points. ACUSYS simulates the fluid medium as a monodimensional linear wave field (electro-acoustic analogy), bounded in structurally rigid pipes, containers, and piping accessories. It includes a predefined library of configurations, easily expandable, allowing a broad set of plants to undergo parametric analysis. ACUSYS has a user-friendly interface developed with MATLAB Handle Graphics GUI tools. Platforms: Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX. Supports: MATLAB 4.2c, Simulink 1.3.
