The MathWorks Book Program Grows to 1,000 Books Based on MATLAB and Simulink

Milestone marks nearly 20 years of collaboration among leading publishers and authors in academia and industry

NATICK, Mass. - (1 May 2007)

The MathWorks today announced the publication of the one thousandth book sponsored by its Book Program, which partners with leading publishers and authors in academia and industry to develop books based on MATLAB® and Simulink®. The growth of The MathWorks Book Program reflects the widespread adoption of MATLAB and Simulink. More than one million engineers and scientists, including researchers, instructors, and students at more than 3,500 universities worldwide, use MathWorks products for technical computation, visualization, programming, modeling, and simulation.

Initially focused on linear algebra or advanced research, these books now span a broad range of topics, including computational biology, signal processing, control systems, image processing, and financial engineering. The collection supports every educational level, from freshmen survey course to professional reference, and includes books from 26 languages. Over half of the books come with companion software that facilitates learning.

“Since the company’s inception, The MathWorks has been committed to preparing the engineers and scientists of tomorrow for technology careers through fellowships, mentoring activities, and sponsorship of engineering competitions,” said Cleve Moler, chief scientist at The MathWorks and creator of MATLAB. “The Book Program upholds this tradition with an expanding body of knowledge that represents contributions from publishers, authors, and the academic community. By providing application examples, interactive exercises, and practical product experience married to theory, these books represent a significant resource for educators.”
