The MathWorks Honors Four Natick High School Students with Scholarships

Scholarships Awarded to Students Who Excel in Math and Science

NATICK, Mass. - (10 Jun 2008)

The MathWorks today announced that it has awarded four Natick high school students with scholarships. The awards were given to students who have excelled in math and science.

The Town of Natick presented The MathWorks Scholarship to Emily Anderson and Anya Price during Natick High School ’s graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 1.   Anderson and Price were chosen by a committee of town officials from a field of applicants ranked according to academic achievement, a student essay, and a demonstrated commitment to math and science.

Anderson, who will be studying biomedical engineering at Tufts University in the fall, received a $10,000 award from The MathWorks. In addition to her academic achievements in math and science, Anderson is the president of the Natick High School Student Council and a member of the Math Team and the Women in Science Team.

Price, who also received a $10,000 scholarship, will be attending Tufts University in the fall to pursue a career as a veterinarian. She is the captain of the Natick High School Cross Country and Outdoor Track teams, the vice president of the Natick Symphonic Band, and a member of the National Honor Society.

The MathWorks also awarded scholarships to Nick Tortola and Stephanie Mullen, who were chosen by a committee of Natick High School teachers based on their achievements in math and science and involvement in extracurricular activities.

Tortola, a graduating senior, received a $1,200 scholarship. He will be attending Plymouth State College this fall where he will be studying meteorology. Mullen was also awarded a $1,200 scholarship. She is a senior and will be studying biology at Worcester State College in the fall.
