Design FPGA- and DSP-based software radios

Software-defined radio (SDR) enables the design of advanced communications systems that use OFDM, MIMO, and cognitive radio techniques. These SDR designs are often implemented using an FPGA, a DSP, or both.

MATLAB and Simulink provide an open, integrated SDR development environment for:

  • Radio-in-the-loop design using USRP® devices from Ettus Research LLC
  • Physical (PHY) layer design
  • Control plane design

For SDR designs, MATLAB and Simulink enable:

  • Simulation acceleration with parallel computing and GPUs
  • C and HDL code generation and cosimulation
  • Processor-in-the-loop design verification
  • FPGA-in-the-loop design verification
