accumulation_data documentation

This function returns accumulation data and corresponding geographic or polar stereographic coordinates.

This function requires Antarctic Mapping Tools.

Data download

This function plots Arthern's tif-formatted accumulation data, which can be downloaded here. Download it, unzip it, and make sure Matlab can find the data. Then you should be able to use the accumulation_data function.

Syntax

Z = accumulation_data(lati,loni)
Z = accumulation_data(lati,loni,extrakm)
Z = accumulation_data(xi,yi,extrakm)
Z = accumulation_data(xi,yi)
Z = accumulation_data(...,'rms')
[lat,lon,Z] = accumulation_data(...)
[x,y,Z] = accumulation_data(...,'xy')

Description

Z = accumulation_data(lati,loni) returns only enough accumulation data to fully encompass a set of points given by geo coordinates lati,loni.

Z = accumulation_data(lati,loni,extrakm) as above, but encompasses points lati,loni and adds a buffer of specified width extrakm in kilometers around all four sides of data points.

Z = accumulation_data(xi,yi) returns only enough accumulation data to fully encompass a set of points given by polar stereographic (-71) coordinates xi,yi.

Z = accumulation_data(xi,yi,extrakm) as above, but encompasses points xi,yi and adds a buffer of specified width extrakm in kilometers around all four sides of data points.

Z = accumulation_data(...,'rms') returns rms error estimates.

[lat,lon,Z] = accumulation_data(...) returns geo coordinates and elevation or mask data Z.

[x,y,Z] = accumulation_data(...,'xy') returns polar stereographic coordinates when the 'xy' tag is included.

Accumulation on the Antarctic Peninsula:

Overlay red error contours at 2 mm/a intervals:

err = accumulation_data(-69.5,-65,[400 300],'rms');
