Use Files on the Cloud

You can upload files from a computer to the cloud and use MATLAB® Mobile™ to run them. For example, if you upload myfile.m to the cloud, you can type the file name in the MATLAB Mobile command window to run it.


Access to MathWorks® Cloud storage requires a MathWorks Account, a MATLAB license associated with the account, and an up-to-date MathWorks Software Maintenance Service contract.

Verify Access to Cloud Storage

  1. Log in to your MathWorks Account or create a new one at

  2. Verify that a valid license is associated with your MathWorks Account:

    1. Go to License Center and click My Account on the upper right side.

    2. Click Manage My Licenses in the menu on the left. License Center displays the list of licenses associated with your account.

    3. If no licenses are associated with your account, click Add License and follow the online instructions.

    4. To verify that the Software Maintenance contract is up-to-date, view the License Details for the license and check the Maintenance End Date.

      If the Software Maintenance Contract is expired, contact your MathWorks Sales representative for assistance.

Upload a File

You can upload one file at a time from a desktop or laptop computer to the cloud. You cannot upload files from a mobile device.

  1. Go to

  2. Click Upload File.

  3. In the Select File dialog box, click Choose File.

  4. Select the file that you want to upload and click Upload.

Upload Multiple Files

To upload multiple files at one time, package them in a ZIP archive file first. Then, upload the ZIP archive file.

Use the unzip command in MATLAB Mobile to extract them.

Download a File

You can download one file at a time from the cloud to a desktop or laptop computer. You cannot download files to a mobile device.

  1. Go to

  2. Select a file that you want to download.

  3. Click Download File.

Delete Files

Use your mobile device to delete files from the cloud.

  1. Start MATLAB Mobile and connect to the cloud.

  2. In the command window, enter the delete command, as follows.

    delete <filename>
