Segmented Pipeline Test Rig

This example shows a rig used to investigate the water hammer effect, which takes place when a variable orifice is abruptly shut off with full flow rate flowing through the branch. The pressure sensor displays pressure at the orifice inlet, while the flow rate meter shows flow rate through the branch. The water hammer- like behavior of the pipeline can be investigated by changing pipeline dimensions, number of segments in the pipeline model, fluid properties, and valve closure speed and minimum opening.
