Fluid properties impact your model dynamics and are required parameters for simulation. To specify them, select a fluid settings block from the appropriate physical domain and connect it anywhere on the target fluid network. The fluid settings block propagates the specified fluid properties to all components in the attached fluid network.
To set the fluid properties in a Thermal Liquid network, use the Thermal Liquid Settings (TL) block from the Simscape™ Foundation library. The block inputs are the tabulated fluid properties specified as functions of pressure and temperature.
To set the fluid properties in a Hydraulic network, use the Custom Hydraulic Fluid block from the Simscape Foundation library. The block inputs are the fluid properties specified as constants.
For an alternative way of specifying the fluid properties in a Hydraulic network, use the Hydraulic Fluid block from the Simscape Fluids™ Hydraulic (Isothermal Liquid) library. The block inputs include the fluid type—water, gasoline, jet fuel, and many others—selected from a dropdown list.
Simscape Fluids models can have multiple fluid networks, each representing a single-fluid system. To avoid model compilation errors, use only one fluid settings block per network. Two fluid networks are treated as distinct if they belong to different Simscape domains or if they share no direct connection line.
If a fluid network has no fluid settings block, that network reverts to the default properties defined in the Simscape domain source files. The defaults correspond to water in the Thermal Liquid domain and to a typical hydraulic fluid in the Hydraulic domain.
