CAD Import

Generate and update models from CAD assemblies

Use the smimport function to generate and update a Simscape™ Multibody™ model based on a CAD assembly. The function parses an XML data file previously generated during CAD export and determines the appropriate blocks to use in a model.

For an example showing how to use the smimport function to import a CAD assembly, see Import a Robotic Arm Model. To install and enable the Simscape Multibody Link plug-in so that you can export CAD assemblies, see Install Simscape Multibody Link Plug-In.
