blaxxun Contact, distributed with the Virtual Reality Toolbox, requires the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. However, the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is no longer distributed with Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 SP4, and later releases.
If you have a Windows system that was upgraded from a previous Windows release, it is likely that you have a correct version of the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. If you have a new Windows installation, it is likely that you do not have the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine installed. See the following Web sites for further information:
If you do not have the Microsoft Virtual machine, see the following Web site and search for appropriate executable file to download.
http://www.microsoft.com/About/Legal/EN/US/Interoperability/Java/Default.aspx
Install the downloaded executable file and perform a standard installation of blaxxun Contact, as described in the Virtual Reality Toolbox (Simulink 3D Animation) documentation.
Note, if the Sun Java Machine is installed on your machine, you need to either:
- Select Microsoft Virtual Machine as the default Java engine for Internet Explorer
- Disable Sun Java Machine (to enable the Microsoft Virtual Machine as the Java engine for blaxxun Contact)
To select the Microsoft Virtual Machine as the default:
- From the Start menu, select Settings->Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the resulting window, look for Set Program Access and Defaults.
- Select Microsoft Windows.
The resulting dialog indicates that the default virtual machine for Java will be the Microsoft Virtual Machine.
- Press OK.
The simulation might slow when you connect Orbisnap remotely to the Virtual Reality Toolbox server.
