PC-Based Vision Systems with MATLAB and Simulink
PCs are a common platform for building inexpensive vision systems that employ industry-standard imaging hardware. PC-based vision systems offer a high degree of customization as a result of standard image acquisition hardware interfaces such as USB, IEEE 1394 Firewire, and Gigabit Ethernet.
Using MATLAB and Simulink, you can develop vision systems that run on desktop or laptop PCs as follows:
- Connect to scientific and industrial cameras with standard interfaces, such as Camera Link, DCAM, GigE Vision, and USB, through Image Acquisition Toolbox.
- Develop vision algorithms to assist with image and video enhancement, feature detection, blob analysis, image registration, and image recognition using Computer Vision System Toolbox, Image Processing Toolbox, and Statistics Toolbox.
- Create custom graphical user interfaces with the MATLAB programming language or GUIDE, the graphical user interface development environment.
- Package and distribute your MATLAB applications royalty-free with MATLAB Compiler.
