Instrument Control Toolbox™ 2.6
Supported Hardware - LXI
MATLAB supports LXI for developing test systems through the Instrument Control Toolbox. LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation), the LAN-based successor to GPIB, combines the advantages of Ethernet with the simplicity and familiarity of GPIB.
MATLAB is an application development environment used by over 1,000,000 users today in aerospace, defense, automotive, communications, electronics, and other industries. MATLAB is used for developing test systems including data acquisition, analysis, and visualization in a single environment. Using a single environment enables organizations to reduce development time, allows project teams to speak a common language and streamline their tool chain, and helps organizations save on maintenance and training costs.
The MathWorks officially supports the LXI standard, and it is one of only a few software providers to do so. The MathWorks is an active member of the LXI Consortium. You can learn about The MathWorks commitment and contribution to the LXI standard by reading The MathWorks press release announcing its support for the standard.
MATLAB is an ideal software environment for developing test systems containing LXI instrumentation. Instrument Control Toolbox supports LXI instruments and enables MATLAB to control, configure, and transfer data with LXI instrumentation. Once data is in MATLAB, you can analyze and visualize that data using interactive tools and command-line functions for data analysis tasks such as signal processing, statistical analysis, digital filtering, curve fitting, and nonlinear optimization. Data acquisition and analysis work can also be incorporated into GUI-based applications.
MATLAB also provides a graphical tool through this toolbox to allow you to graphically control, configure, and transfer data with your LXI instruments without writing code. In fact, this tool generates MATLAB code for instruments which you can reuse later to communicate with your device or use to develop GUI-based applications.
