Why can't I change the foreground color for a radiobutton, checkbox, or popupmenu in GUIDE for MATLAB 6.x (R12.x)?

Why can't I change the foreground color for a radiobutton, checkbox, or popupmenu in GUIDE for MATLAB 6.0 and 6.1 (R12 and R12.1)?

I can double click on a UICONTROL object and change its foreground color from the Property Inspector for any UI object in GUIDE. However, I cannot see the actual color changes in GUIDE for radiobuttons, checkboxes, and popupmenus. Fortunately, my GUI application does show the changes.

This is a bug in the way GUIDE displays the objects in MATLAB 6.0 and 6.1 (R12 and R12.1). Our development staff has been notified and is currently looking into addressing this problem for a future release of MATLAB. Please note that the changes are indeed visible in the GUI when it is executed.

There are no known workarounds available at this time.
