Use of data-type class from functions, which are not methods to this class

Asked by Christos Saragiotis on 14 Nov 2013

I have created a new (suitable for my needs) data type as a class. I want to use variables of this class in other functions that I have created or will create in the future. Because they will be quite numerous (as well as I want to use these functions with other data variables as well), I don't want to add these functions as methods to the class. Is it possible to, say, declare this data type in my functions, so that I don't get the error "No method xxx defined for the class yyy".
